College Summaries


Balliol College is a prosperous educational community in the heart of Oxford. It was establihed to develop education at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The college takes both undergraduate and undergraduate students. Presently the school has 373 undergraduate students and 279 postgraduate students. Both male and female students are also admitted by the school with the percentage of sixty percent and forty percent respectively.Apart from academic activities, a lot goes on at Balliol: Hall dinners, Chapel services, speaker lunches, debates, concerts, plays, sport, society meetings and much more. Balliol has an exceptional kitchen, which make available lunch and dinner in Hall seven days a week throughout term time.


Brasenose College admits both undergraduate and postgraduate student into the college with adequate facility for both types of student. The college has three hundred and sixty-seven undergraduate students while there are two hundred and three postgraduate students presently in the college. Brasenose College also admits both male and female students into the college. Currently, the percentage of male students and female students are fifty-six and forty-four percentages respectively. For undergraduates, the center of all social doings is the Junior Common Room and for graduates it is the Hulme Common Room. Brasenose faces the west flank of Radcliffe Square at the other end of the Radcliffe Camera in the center of Oxford. The JCR plays a dominant part in the life of the undergraduate communal. Offering social, entertaining and wellbeing provision to the students, the elected group addresses many features of student life and communicates with the governing body and graduate student councils.


Christ church offers admission for both undergraduates and postgraduates students. As it stands, the college has four hundred and twenty-eight undergraduate students and one hundred and sixty-four postgraduate students. In addition, the college also takes male students and female students. The percentages of both sexes are fifty-nine percent and forty-one percent respectively.


For accommodation, the structures of Christ Church are the cathedral, one of the tiniest in the country, which also serves as the college sanctuary, a great hall, dual libraries, two bars, and common rooms for academics, graduates and undergraduates. There are also gardens and a neighboring sportsground and boat-house.

Accommodation is usually provided for all undergraduates, and for some graduates, although some accommodation is off-site. Members of the school are normally expected to dine in hall, where there are two sessions every evening, one informal and one formal.


Corpus Christi College accepts both postgraduate and undergraduate students. Currently, the college has small population of undergraduate students greater in number than the postgraduate students. This college also accept both male and female applicants into the college but accepts more male students than female students. As at now, the percentage of male students in the college is fifty-five percent while the percentage of females in the college is forty-five percent. Corpus Christi College was established in 1517 as a center for novel learning in the University of Oxford. Both male and female students are present in the college but the students in the college are majorly male students. Fifty-six percent of the students in the college are male students while the remaining forty-four percent represents the female students. Jesus college is located at the centre of the city, on a position between Turl Street, Ship Street, Cornmarket Street and Market Street. Students from the college partake in a range of social activities such as sport. Some add to student journalism for Cherwell or The Oxford Student. The Turl Street Arts Festival is held yearly in unification with Exeter and Lincoln colleges.


Keble college is a college that accepts both male and female students, although more male students are present in the college than the female ones. Lady Margaret Hall accepts undergraduate students and postgraduate students. As it stands, there population of undergraduate students in the college are medium sized while the postgraduate students are smaller in number. Lady Margaret Hall also accepts both male and female students into the college with equal percentages, there are fifty percent male students and fifty percent female students in the college. The college is positioned beside the River Cherwell at Norham Gardens in north Oxford next to the University Parks. Accommodation is continuously made available for undergraduates for three years of their study, and provided for part of the postgraduate student. The students are involved in activities like football, rowing and some other sports.


Lincoln college accepts both undergraduate students and postgraduate students into the college, although the population of undergraduate students in the college is small, while the population of the postgraduate students are lesser than that of the undergraduate students. Both female and male students are accepted by the college with the percentage of fifty-one percent and forty-nine percent for male students’ population and female students’ population respectively. Lincoln college is located on Turl Street in central Oxford. This college is part of the colleges in Oxford to provides accommodation for all the undergraduate students and almost all postgraduate students are also given accommodation. The social life of the students involves the use of the Junior Common Room and the Middle Common Room.


Magdalen college admits both postgraduate students and undergraduate students with medium population of undergraduates. The population of postgraduate students is almost half of the population of the undergraduates. The college allows both male and female students to come into the college. Presently, the female student’s population is forty-one percent of the total population while the male students in the college represents fifty-nine percent. The college is close to the River Cherwell. There are many social clubs in the college and the social life of the students also involves sport activities like college boat, hockey, football, rugby, squash and others forms of college sport.


Mansfield college is a college under oxford that accepts undergraduate and postgraduate students even though the population of the undergraduate students is small and the postgraduate students are lesser than the population of the undergrads. Both female and male students are present in the college, the percentage of female students in the college is forty-four students while that of male students is fifty-six percent. The College is situated on Mansfield Road, close to the centre of Oxford, and to the south of the Science Area. The social life of the students within the college involves various sports like Mansfield College Boat Club and other organisations established among the students.


Merton college accepts male and female students into the college. Right now, the female students in the college represents forty-four percent of the total student population while the population of male students represents fifty-six percent of the total population of students. Merton college accepts both postgraduate and undergraduate students into the college, although the population of the undergraduate students is small. Pembroke college accepts both undergraduate and graduates into the college. Although the population of the undergraduates can be described as medium and the higher than the population of the postgraduate students in the college. The college also accepts both female and male students with the percentage of forty-four and fifty-six respectively. The college has a Junior Common Room for the undergraduate students in the college and it’s notable for its artistic wealth and sporting prowess. The sport activities of the college include rugby, hockey, crickets, women boxing, polo and darts. Pembroke college has a very strong sporting status across the Oxford university.

The Queen's College is a college that admits both undergraduate students and postgraduate students. The size of the undergraduate students is medium and the population of postgraduate students in the college is lesser than the population of undergraduate students in the college. The college admits female and male students with population of the male students slightly higher than the population of the female students in the college. The male students are fitty-three of the student’s population while the female students are forty-seven percent of the student’s population. The college is an active society that participates strongly in intercollege sport competitions, there are different student societies in the college and, as one of the bigger colleges, hosting triennial Commemoration balls.


Regent's Park College admits both postgraduate and undergraduate students into the college and the population of the undergraduate student is small while the population of the postgraduate students is far lesser than that of the undergraduate students in the college. The college also admits both male and female students into the college but the population of female students in the college is greater than that of the male students in the college. The female students in the college represents fifty-seven percent of the population while the male students represent forty-three percent of the student’s population. Regent’s park college is located in central Oxford, just off St Giles'. Students are given access to accommodation in the first and final years of study only. There are sports teams in football, rowing, netball and basketball in the college. The Junior Common Room in the college is used for other social activities.


St Anne's College admits both male and female students into the college. Presently, the percentage of the female and male students in the college is fifty percent respectively which means there are equal number of male and female students in the college. The college also accepts both postgraduate and undergraduate students into the college. St Anne's College population of postgraduate students is lesser than the medium sized population of the undergraduates in the college. The social activities among the students of the college include sport and societal activities. St Anne’s college has sport teams for majority of the sports in Oxford University, and competes in inter-collegiate tournaments.


St Benet's Hall is a permanent private hall that accepts undergraduate students and postgraduate students. The size of the undergraduate student’s population is small and there are few postgraduate students in the college. The college make merry of its patron saint every year with a special Catz Night dinner and the major sport activity in the college is rowing.


St Edmund Hall accepts both undergraduate and postgraduate students. There is a medium sized population of undergraduate students in the college, the population of undergraduate students is more than the population of the postgraduate students. The college also accepts both male and female students with the percentages of fifty-six and forty-four percent respectively. St Edmund Hall is situated just off Queen's Lane, near the High Street, in central Oxford. There are three common rooms for the social activities of the students of the college. The main social activities in the college are creative writing (there is a weekly creative writing workshop), drama and sport.

St Hilda's College offers admission for postgraduate students and undergraduate students. The population of the undergraduate students in the college is medium sized. The college admits both male and female students, the population of both female and male students in the college right now is almost equal with fifty-one and forty-nine percent for male and female students respectively. St Hilda's College is situated at the eastern end of the High Street, Oxford, across the Magdalen Bridge. The major social activity in the college is sports. St Hilda's College is well known for women’s rowing because the college was admitting only female students.


St Hugh's College is a college that admits both undergraduate students and postgraduate students. The size of the undergraduate student’s population is medium and the population of postgraduate students in the college is lesser than the population of undergraduate students in the college. The college also accepts female and male students into the college, the current male student’s population of the school is fifty-five percent of the population of the students while the female population is forty-five percent. The college occupies a rectangular site in North Oxford. St Hugh's College is large enough to accommodate every undergraduates and a most of its postgraduates for the period of their studies. There are common rooms for undergraduate and postgraduate students and the social activities of the students include sports, music among others.


St John's College accepts both undergraduate students and postgraduate students into the college, although the population of undergraduate students in the college is medium sized, while the population of the postgraduate students are lesser than that of the undergraduate students. Both female and male students are accepted by the college with the percentage of fifty-five percent and forty-five percent for male students’ population and female students’ population respectively. The college occupies a central position on St Giles'. The college offers accommodation to all undergraduates within the college throughout the period of their studies. The social activities in the college include dinning, sport, drama etc.


St Peter's College admits both male and female students into the college. Presently, the percentage of the female and male students in the college are forty-six and fifty-four percent respectively. The college also accepts both postgraduate and undergraduate students into the college. St Anne's College population of postgraduate students is lesser than the medium sized population of the undergraduates in the college. St Peter's College has sports teams competing in rowing, cricket, football, table football and rugby competitions in Oxford. Rowing is a common sport in the college. The student-run Junior Common Room start up a different range of social occasions in the academic year, alternating from formal events to parties.


Somerville College accepts both undergraduate and postgraduate students into the college. There is a medium sized population of undergraduate students in the college, the population of undergraduate students is more than the population of the postgraduate students. The college also accepts both male and female students. The population of the male and female students in the school is almost equal with the percentages of forty-nine and fifty-one percent respectively.
