COURSE SUMMARY

History

History is a course that aims at giving insights of the various societies, politics, cultures, and beliefs. It equips one with the necessary skills that will enable them to get an understanding of past events and how this shaped the lives of different people. A-level in History is required to undertake the course, and it is useful to have subjects such as Politics, Economics, Philosophy, English Literature, Sociology and Religious Studies. No laboratory work is undertaken during the course study, but students are expected to actively take part in oral presentations, group discussion and coming up with critical reports. Graduates may work as Curators, Heritage Officers, and subject teachers.

Information management involves appropriately managing the storage and use of public information that may be have been submitted to a company. The skills acquired in the course study enhances one's ability to collect and professionally conserve the essential public data that a company requires for a specific given purpose. There are no specific A-level subjects that are required to undertake the course, but it is useful to have English and History. No laboratory work is involved in the course study, but seminars and group discussion are essential activities that students are engaged in. Graduates from this course can correctly work as librarians, information managers and records managers at different institutions.

Information systems

Information systems focus on equipping students with skills that are necessary to interpret computer systems for a business to create an understanding of what a business may be needing and translating this into applicable systems. There are no specific subjects that are required to undertake this course, but it is useful to have Mathematics. No lab work is involved in the course study, but students are expected to actively take part in field work that helps give them exposure of what is expected from them. It is also important to note that work experience is not part of the coursework. Graduates may work as Applications developers, Systems Analysts, Network Administrators and IT Technical Support officer.

Journalism equips one with skills to help them in gathering, scripting, and presenting information in the different media platforms that are available. Various aspects that are covered in the coursework include handling the production equipment, video editing and working with the different software in the industry. There are no specific A-level subjects required, but it is useful to have Media Studies and English. No laboratory work is involved, but students are required to work on studio-based work and seminars. Other modules that may be covered under this course include online journalism, broadcast journalism, and media law. Graduates from this cause may work as video editors, journalists, web content managers and advertising executives.

Land and property management is a course that equips students with managing different properties that are from shops industrial buildings and houses, equipment estates. A-level subjects that are required include Mathematics and English. No laboratory work is involved in the, but fieldworks and group discussion are an essential part of the course. It is important to note that work experience is not part of the coursework. Different aspects that are usually in the coursework include Economics, Law, Property Evaluation, Management, and construction. Graduates may work as residential estate agents and as a surveyor among other related careers.

Law

Law is a subject that deals with the study of legal theory to enhance the application of law to real-life scenarios. There are no specific requirements for undertaking this course, but it is useful to have English and History. One is required to specialize in different categories of law that range from finance law, intellectual property law, media law, and child law to family law and many others. It gives an insight of the legal systems and how they work to maintain law and order within a society. No laboratory work is usually involved in the course study, but it is students are expected to take part in group discussions and watch tutorials that broaden their knowledge. Graduates may work in the law industry and serve in the justice systems.

Linguistics

Linguistics focuses on creating an understanding of the various languages that exist among people in a given social setting. Other aspects of the course include conveying the meaning of language, understanding speech sounds, and the structure of a language in general. There are no specific A-level subjects that are required to undertake this course, but it is useful to have Mathematics, English Language, Modern Foreign Language and English Literature and Language. No laboratory work is normally undertaken in the coursework and work experience is also not part of the coursework to be undertaken. Graduates from this course may work as translators, English teachers, advertising consultants and publications editor.
