The Incredible Unlikeliness of Being: Evolution and the Making of Us

£9.99 £7.95

Many people tend to think our bodies are perfect, and we like to believe that is true. That we are the perfect creation, a being that can survive on its own, intelligent and with two different thumbs. The epitome of evolution. But truth be told, we are far from being perfect.
And scientist know this. Scientists are pretty much aware we aren’t some perfect creation that managed to be the peak of evolution, we are flawed, we are still a work in progress. Yes, we have come a long way, but we still have a long road ahead.
This is what author Alice Roberts is trying to make us understand in her book The Incredible Unlikeliness of Being: Evolution and the Making of Us, that us, as humans beings, are way too far from being the perfect species we like to think we are.
However, not because we are flawed it means we aren’t extremely interesting, because we, as the human species, are incredibly interesting. Which the author tries to convey in this quick novel by showing how evolution has turned us into what we are today.
In this book, we go on a journey of self-discovery while we take a look at the history of evolution while understanding how we have come to be what we are right now, as of today. And how even in the present, we still hold the history of our past, of the human past.
Throughout the book, we are reminded that we are nothing more than a machine that is made from moments of the past, from flaws, but that it somehow manages to work almost entirely all the time.
If you are someone who is genuinely curious to understand how the history of evolution has affected us up to this point and you are willing to invest some of your time to get the answers you want, they should read this book as soon as possible.
Think about The Incredible Unlikeliness of Being: Evolution and the Making of Us, as a way to understand why we are the way we are, and what factors have influence society to become what it is today.
It is safe to say the book is kind of like a historical one, but written so beautifully, so well put together, it isn’t dull or boring at any moment, on the contrary, you will find yourself enjoying this book way more than you could imagine, as you discover new things about the human race.
